The news is full of stories of corporate greed, dishonesty and lack of human respect. But it’s not time to write off corporate America just yet. Because there are companies out there dedicated to reducing inequality, lowering poverty levels, fostering a healthier environment, strengthening their communities and creating more high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose.

They’re called Certified B Corporations. From Patagonia to your local pastry shop, Certified B Corporations are doing business the right way by meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

But with only 7% awareness in the United States, far too few people knew just how good Certified B Corporations were. Our challenge was to generate awareness and cultural relevance for the B Corp movement, all on a nonprofit budget.

Tapping into the political tension of the November 2018 midterm elections, we encouraged people to stand up and act on what they believe with three simple words: Vote Every Day. The campaign helped people realize that they can vote all the time for what they believe in, simply by being more conscious about the products they buy, the places they shop, and where they do business. By doing that, every day can be election day.

The campaign utilized print, social, digital and pop-up experiences for both the B Corp brand and Certified B Corporations themselves. And with only one month of paid advertising support, the campaign generated:

270MM media impressions, written up in AdAge, The Drum, Forbes, and Fast Company

4.6MM social impressions (7MM digital and social impressions)

2MM YouTube views

Surpassed brand engagement goals

Increased traffic to the B Corp website by over 30%, with 99.5% unique visitors

More importantly, it generated a groundswell of support among Certified B Corporations, with more than 100 brands choosing to participate in the campaign, including Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, Kickstarter, Danone, Cabot Creamery, Stonyfield Organics, Athleta and Bombas, among others.
