About

THE VOICE OF A WOMAN | VOW
In 2018 of the 1200 films released in the international box office 96% were directed by men and 4% by women.

In response to this reality for many creative women in 2009 THE VOICE OF A WOMAN was founded. This year marks 10 years of bringing the works of women in film and fine art from around the world to public audiences through the VOW FESTIVAL, along with an acknowledgment of the best works each year with THE VOICE OF A WOMAN AWARDS.

Each year THE VOICE OF A WOMAN (VOW) celebrates creativity with a bold and innovative program featuring the works of creative women globally.

THE VOICE OF A WOMAN | VOW | AWARDS
THE VOICE OF A WOMAN AWARDS were first presented in 2012 in London at the National Portrait Gallery on Trafalgar Square. The Awards have been presented every year since at such venues as The Paley Center for Media - New York City, Spring Street Studios - New York City and in 2018 at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.

The VOW Awards have been presented to such artists as: Shirin Neshat (Artist), Grace Jones (Performance Art), Chloe Sevigny (Actress/Director), Ming Smith (Fine Art Photographer), Kim Longinotto (Director), Deeyah Khan (Director), Thandie Newton OBE (Actor), Sarah Gavron (Director), and others.  In 2019 we have the great pleasure of honoring women in music.
