Creative Strategist - Mid-Weight
Sydney, Australia


Amplify is recruiting for a mid-weight Creative Strategist to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to lead the strategic direction of campaigns in Australia and work within the Global Strategy Team at Amplify.

Strategy sits at the heart of our business, from product technology launches or a digital fashion campaign, we are simply inspired and excited by creative problem-solving. 

You will be involved in everything from insights and research, concept development, communications planning and cultural programming, helping to shape campaigns, collaborations and concepts that deliver measurable change for our clients.


We’re looking for someone who is creatively minded and culturally connected, particularly in Australian culture. You understand what makes Australians tick and how they like to spend their time.

Whilst strategy is the core part of the role, you will be working in tandem with Amplify's Creative Director to provide the strategic foundation, insights and creative routes on which our campaigns are founded. A truly creative strategist that can work deeply on both sides of strategy and creativity {highly regarded, but not essential the thinking is most important].  You live and breathe smart-thinking pitch responses or presentations and are adept at presenting and selling your point of view.

You may have come from a cultural publication or institution, or have a background in the arts and culture space. Equally, you may be from a traditional planning background but strong passions in the cultural space.  

Whilst this role will be the only strategist role in the Sydney office, you will be part of the global strategy team so will have access to other strategic minds in the business.


  • You’re a creative thinker first and foremost, that has a love of culture and a passion for creativity, tech or culture outside of work. 
  • You have demonstrated success in strategic campaigns and have the ability to converge insights and marketing principles to create compelling and culturally relevant brand experiences or campaigns.
  • You proactively identify the data, trends and cultural insights that help the team build better thinking – finding impactful ways to share this information with the agency.
  • You demonstrate an ingrained understanding and opinion on the ways brands can, and should, exist in culture 
  • You keep up to date with digital, media, social and technological innovation - leveraging knowledge to create stronger, more robust work.


  • You’re comfortable leading the strategic response to briefs and have the confidence to lead the internal teams in the direction you feel is right and the strategy to win.
  • You’re a presenter that can hold a room and share your ideas with passion and conviction.
  • You produce exceptionally written and presented work that inspires the internal teams and clients with its simplicity, narrative and thinking.
  • You can structure and sell your thinking – leading the conversation and bringing key individuals on the journey with you.
  • You understand how to give direction and collaborate with client management, creative and production teams to bring ideas and strategies to life.
  • You’re a self starter and work well independently to get the job done.
  • You have the ability to manage multiple projects, taking ownership of how you structure your time.
  • Be a vocal participant and inspire others with new approaches, tools or ways of thinking. 
  • Take a lead role in agency thought leadership 
  • You’re comfortable being the face, mind and voice behind Amplify’s work and pitches.
