M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment

What this role entails

This role is specifically to work on a gaming and entertainment account. The successful candidate must have a genuine passion for gaming, alongside experience working in this sector. 

We are looking for an exceptional Account Manager to join our entertainment division. This exciting and fast-paced team has developed a reputation for creating and delivering some of the most culturally relevant and impressive campaigns for brands such as Ballantine’s, Jameson, King and Virgin Media.  

They will have the opportunity to work on some of the industry’s most exciting global campaigns and events, involving global travel and working with leading content partners, talent and media. The role allows for work across multiple marketing disciplines, including PR, digital, social and partnerships. Alongside global projects, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to guide local market campaigns and activations. Candidates must have a proven track record working with global brands and must be able to demonstrate their expertise within the gaming, esports and entertainment spaces.

They must have their finger on the pulse culturally, with a thorough knowledge of the media, social and influencer landscapes, and should display creative thinking in how to penetrate these. They should already have strong journalist contacts but with the personal aptitude to grow and nurture these further, alongside the ability to be able to suggest the hottest up and coming names. 

Core responsibilities include: 

  • Being the central ‘cog’ in the team identifying any actions and completing them in a timely manner, ensuring that accounts are run as smoothly as possible\
  • Day-to-day contact for the client


  • Be positive, proactive and solutions-driven – always think one step ahead 
  • Take ownership and be fully accountable for day-to-day operations 

Initiative and problem solving:

  • Develop the ability to both identify and solve problems before your ADs or clients do. When highlighting a problem always have a view of what a solution might be
  • Always think ahead having your clients and brands front of mind


  • Display strong working relationships with your team – you are the central cog and a vital part of the everyday operation of the account 
  • Display strong relationships with clients, both in terms of rapport and respect. The client should trust your opinion/counsel and see you as a vital member of the team
  • Display and develop strong relationships with media contacts and invest time into nurturing and growing these to maximise opportunities for your client/s

Media management:

  • Have a very strong knowledge of cross-sector media titles and the changing landscape, especially in relation to the specific needs of your client/s, and be aware of the importance that media play in the role of an agency
  • Build and maintain quality relationships with key media across all relevant clients
  • Manage and drive rich editorial and media partnership opportunities through story generation, exclusives, interviews, and features
  • Continually monitor media for all client coverage and articles of interest
  • Be aware of all coverage from initial sell-in, to delivery and oversee the reporting process – flag any issues to ADs early

Writing skills:

  • Have strong creative and corporate writing skills, to be used across external documents such as press releases and media packs, as well as internal documents such as toolkits and client reports
  • Have a keen eye for detail and ensure all written work is delivered to a high standard of quality

Presentation skills:

  • You should be developing your physical presentation skills and building confidence in competently talking clients though a document or pitching an idea
  • You should be able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing throughout internal and client-facing comms

Strategic skills:

  • Understanding of planning and responding to a brief with clear strategic thinking

Answering briefs:

  • Understanding how to interrogate and answer a brief creatively and how to position and articulate ideas to the client

Time and resource management:

  • Effective time management is essential. Ensure that you are delivering work on time and are conscientious with deadlines
  • Flag any pinch points on your accounts to your ADs to ensure that the standard of your work is not being affected

Campaign execution:

  • Build skills and confidence to plan, organise and manage events, including coordinating venues, invitations, guestlists, press materials, managing suppliers etc.
  • Work to ensure that campaign activation is delivered on time and within budget, flagging early any issues or concerns to AD’s


  • Oversee status reports and ensure that they are delivered to the client on time   

Management of the team:

  • Keep all members of the team up-to-date with account work and ensure that regular internal status meetings are arranged
  • Give clear guidance to your AEs, from initial briefing, through to providing feedback and guidance along the way

Client services:

  • Show genuine interest in your client’s business
  • Respond promptly to client requests. Keep the client informed if there is going to be a delay
  • Flag anything that may be of interest to your clients – competitor activity, news relating to brand ambassadors, media insights etc.

Financial management:

  • Become competent with the finance processes; including issuing SOW, client estimate signoff, setting up new job numbers, processing POs and managing budgets

This role is specifically to work on a gaming and entertainment account. The successful candidate must have a genuine passion for gaming, alongside experience working in this sector.
