In 2022, we saw RTÉ TV celebrating 60 years of broadcasting. And while much has changed in Irish life since 1962, what’s never changed is RTÉ’s distinct role in reflecting the voices of Ireland whoever, and wherever they may be.
The approach we took wasn’t to celebrate our national broadcaster’s achievements - instead, we chose to celebrate and shine a light on the one main thing that makes RTÉ TV so unique and special - its audience. This light becomes the basis of the visual approach, projecting moments of the Nation throughout time in their original locations across Ireland. These are intercut with carefully chosen clips found from 1000s of pieces of footage in the RTÉ Archives - showing scenes of historical importance, of bravery, of pride, of love and laughter, each scene a moment capturing the spirit of the everyday person under the spotlight.
Because for the past 60 years, RTÉ has been a stage for us all. It has facilitated our conversations; and reflected the reality of the many lives lived on our island. And it’s this thought that led us to our campaign line: The life of a nation. Lived by you.
