Tree pollen is the leading cause of seasonal allergies in the US. But as Claritin discovered,

only male trees produce pollen. Female trees don’t. They actually absorb it. And yet, for

decades, cities have been advised to plant only male trees. The DiversiTree Project set out

to fight rising pollen levels by making female trees accessible to everyone. We planted only

female trees in cities with the highest pollen counts. But because allergy sufferers are

everywhere, we partnered with Arbor Day Foundation, an organization that’s planting 500

million trees, to distribute female trees nationwide. Through our website, everyone could

request their own female tree. Claritin turned America’s green spaces into allergy-fighting

backyards, gardens, and parks. We even commissioned a study with Cornell University to

arm policymakers with data the USDA didn’t have. With the simple act of planting trees,

Claritin planted the beginning of a better, more allergy-free world.
