smith & beta and startup accelerator Boomtown to school innovators in all things digital

At a pop-up store, a lucky shopper can walk away with a cool T-shirt or photo proof of a celeb encounter before the short-term lease expires. Now, a new kind of pop-up is offering a unique experience: an education.

smith & beta, a talent development and digital education company, is partnering with startup accelerator Boomtown to launch the first-of-its-kind Pop-Up School in January 2016 in Boulder, Colorado. The school is billed as “a front-row seat to see how startups work and hands-on digital making, learning.” Practical, work-relevant sessions serve as a shortcut to new ideas in technology, the workspace and creativity, and offer attendees the chance to network, make connections, apply new skills and meet new talent in one of the fastest-growing tech cities in the world, with the highest number of startups per capita in the country.

Aimed at agencies’ employees, brand marketers and any interested individual, Pop-Up School has lined up workshops with the industry’s top leaders and innovators including:

- Adam Tucker (Ogilvy & Mather Advertising NYC)

- Bonnie Wan (Goodby Silverstein & Partners)

- Ryan Harms (Google Creative Lab)

- Toby Krout (Boomtown Accelerator).

Two different sessions will be offered:

Week 1 – New Ways of Working (January 20-22)

Week 2 – Future Proof (January 27-29)

Each session is limited to 50 attendees.

$899.00 per week for Early Bird (through October 31)

$1,099.00 per week for Regular Price November ---->

“We're going to show and teach the new ways of working that right now are fueling an explosion of technology innovation in the startup world. And we're excited to see what great things will happen when these principles and practices are leveraged by the talented attendees,” said Toby Krout, managing director at Boomtown.

Boomtown’s new Connectivity Lab will provide the perfect space to work and learn with teachers eager to share what they know about the realms of digital, technology, design, and startup culture. Students will leave with a renewed energy for innovation along with valuable knowledge to share at the workplace.

“Between smith & beta’s expertise in the digital space and Boomtown’s ability to move ideas forward quickly and efficiently, we’ll bring you up to speed on the latest trends, technologies and ways of working,” said smith & beta founder and managing partner, Allison Kent-Smith. “And, of course, we’ll also take a look at what the future holds.”
