Grupo Gallegos launches contest encouraging moms and kids to create milk container art

Grupo Gallegos and the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), creator of got milk? and toma leche, announced today the launch of the “Milk & Art Contest.”

The Facebook contest encourages moms and kids to create and submit an original piece of art created from a milk container for a chance to win up to $2,000 to kickstart a college fund. Submissions are now open at www.facebook.com/tomaleche and will continue to be accepted through Tuesday, June 9th.

“At CMPB, we understand the important role that mom plays in the lives of her children and we’re always looking for positive ways to engage her,” said Steve James, Executive Director of CMPB. “The Milk & Art Contest provides a wholesome family activity that reminds mom of the nutritional importance of milk."

The contest is part of CMPB’s  “Fueling a Better Future” strategic platform, launched in 2014 to remind consumers that a strong foundation begins with making healthy choices today to create the best future possible.

CMPB continues to focus on using social platforms to connect with moms, especially Facebook, a key platform where they are already actively engaged. This effort will be focused on Facebook and the Toma Leche page, which is among the top Latino Brand Facebook pages by both number of fans and amount of engagement.

CMPB is partnering with Latina mom bloggers across California who will help promote the contest by sharing videos featuring their own milk art project. Twenty bloggers, both Spanish language and bilingual, were selected to participate. The contest will also be promoted on the Toma Leche Facebook page with a “How It Works” video as well as Facebook advertising.

“Moms are resourceful and are always looking for new ways to keep their kids engaged and inspired,” said Marty Orzio, Chief Creative Officer at Grupo Gallegos. “The Art Contest creates a new occasion for drinking milk, while encouraging moms and kids to spend quality time together, being creativity, bonding, all while earning a chance to kickoff a college fund.”

The Milk & Art Contest begins with a two-week submission period, then a panel of judges will select 10 finalists, and 4 winners will be selected by online voting.
