Keep up with LBB and Syncbubble’s new musical experiment – and find out how you can get in on the action

LBB and Syncbubble’s new experiment is well underway. After Gerry Moira and Rosie Arnold strutted their stuff last week, revamping iconic ads ‘Getting Dressed’ and ‘Balls’ with brand new soundtracks, LBB readers clambered to have a go themselves. Syncbubble’s Simon Elms and LBB’s Laura Swinton choose their top picks from the entries and share the Syncbubble team’s interpretations  – find out if your musical effort made it into this week’s selection of the best Syncbubble Dubbles below.

In the meantime, if you want to have a go, head over to Syncbubble Dubbles here. It couldn't be simpler: pick an ad, search for a track using Syncbubble's revolutionary technology or even upload your own composition and create a playlist. Next week we’ve got another brilliant head-to-head as directors Daniel Kleinman and Chris Palmer face off over a Jonathan Glazer classic.

Sony – Balls

Simon Wilcox Editor - Loaded Dice

Steve Boswell - Chief Creative Executive, Boz Industries

"'I popped onto Syncbubble and to be honest I have to say that I was suspicious of the idea that you could choose music by mood but put my prejudices aside and hit 'Quirky'.

Here we go, I thought, cue the ukeleles and kazoos.

I hit play on the first track and this appeared.

The instrumentation sounded like raindrops falling and a girl who sounded like she might be from Norway or Sweden (always a good thing in my book!) sang 'Shall we go outside?’

Probably a wise question given the fact there's a multi-coloured bouncy ball rainstorm in progress.

But the point is it worked.

It worked really well. Was it Jose Gonzales? No. But I would have been happy to show it to a client? Yes, I'd probably go with it if Jose hadn't had guitar lessons when he was a boy.

Job done. Off to the pub."

Kieran Kaye – Engineer, Wise Buddha

Syncbubble Team

"Given the supernatural, ‘message from above’ feel of this ad, we decided to plump for classic 60’s psychedelia. It has a grand sense of arrival, and we like how there’s a hint of personification in the lyrics, conversing with ‘one of the good time people now’..."

Lynx – Getting Dressed

Nisha Lakhani - Music Supervisor, Storyboard Music

"I chose this piece because of the pauses and rests that coincide with momentary questioning pauses in the film as they spot each additional item of clothing. I also felt the final moments of the section as the flute trails off adds a playfulness through the flutter as they part ways.”

Matty Mason - Music Supervisor

Angus MacRae - Composer

Syncbubble Team

"The Lynx spot is quite an endearing love story until the twist at the end, so we wanted our choice not to deviate too far away from the tenderness, otherwise the surprise ending wouldn’t have an effect. The jaunty playfulness of the guitar adds to the comedy aspect and the cutesy lyrics mirror the ‘rendezvous’ which has just taken place. A modern love story".
