Director Shal Ngo has signed with First Wave (
www.firstwave.tv) for exclusive representation for commercial and branded entertainment projects. Previously, Shal had been with The Institute.
Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Shal's work combines slice-of-life documentary and surrealist fantasy. He has directed commercials and branded content for Dockers, Sharpie, and Sun Chips.
Shal's work for Sharpie won TED's 2012 Ads Worth Spreading Contest and two Chicago ADDY's. His branded fashion shorts for clients Steven Alan and Timo Weiland have been featured in the New York Times Style Magazine and screened at Lincoln Center for NYC Fashion Week. In 2010 his sci-fi film, "The Glow of a Warm Aquarium", won the Syfy Channel Short Film Contest.
Shal’s style is one that focusses on personal storytelling, with focus on individuals’ hopes and dreams, triumphs and tribulations.
Shal currently resides in New York City.
