Nice Shoes has been steadily growing in 2014, with the formation of its Creative Studio, which adds new creative and live action services; and now with additions to the company’s well-respected color team. As part of this strategic growth, Executive Producer Ed Koenig has joined the studio, and was instrumental in bringing on new senior colorist Sal Malfitano.
Malfitano joins Nice Shoes with over eight years of color experience with The Mill. He brought his skills to many high-profile projects, collaborating directly with Lady Gaga on her music video “Applause,” and with the team from Anomaly to deliver the Emmy-nominated Super Bowl spot “A Hero’s Welcome” for Budweiser.
“Nice Shoes has a stellar reputation and an incredibly loyal following. It’s exciting to be collaborating with Ed again and I’m happy to be working with Dominic and the rest of the team,” said Malfitano. “Culturally, it’s a great fit. I felt immediately welcome.”
“When I had the opportunity to add to our color team, the first thing I did was call Sal,” added Koenig. “He brings a unique point of view to our roster. Sal learned to grade in a slightly different style to the colorists at Nice Shoes, and I think he will complement our offering very well."
Koenig came to Nice Shoes after years with MPC, where he was instrumental in building out the company's US Color Department as Executive Producer. In addition to bringing Malfitano on board, Koenig also signed a new Remote Partner in Minneapolis. He plans to continue strengthening bonds with agency clients in New York, while also growing the studio’s network of remote partnerships, including those in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Miami, New Orleans, and Santa Monica.
“Nice Shoes is always evolving,” says Nice Shoes CEO Dominic Pandolfino. “Sal and Ed are a natural addition to the rest of our team, and offer new perspectives as well as additional talent for clients.”
