Hires Alexis James and Matthew Kershaw adding heavy hitting commercial and marketing expertise

Over the last 24 years, Ministry of Sound has built on the success of its London venue to become a global music and entertainment business with a unique portfolio that includes one of the world’s largest independent record labels, market leading compilations, international events, radio and an extensive digital presence across web, video and social. Ministry is working to reposition the parent brand’s unique multimedia offering under one umbrella identity, providing advertisers the opportunity to talk to a devoted audience of affluent young adults across multiple touch points.

The appointments of Alexis James as Commercial Director and Matthew Kershaw as Group Marketing Director will drive the growth and awareness of the company.

James’ role at Ministry of Sound is to create commercial partnerships with complementary brands that will benefit from tapping into Ministry’s global audience of music lovers. He brings with him a decade and a half of experience in media commercial development, having spent the last six years as commercial director at Blinkx. He has previously held commercial roles at UKTV, ITV and Centaur completing a career rich in commercial launches and brand partnerships.

Kershaw’s role as Group Marketing Director is to develop the company’s renowned portfolio of brands, help the business develop digital products and services and grow the company’s position as a youth-oriented media owner and brand partner.

He has over 20 years of experience in the advertising, branding, music and media industries, holding senior positions at MTV and Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) as Head of Interactive and Partner & Content Director. He has also spent time at The Guardian, BBC, Bauer, Channel 4 and as music editor of Mixmag, which gives him an unrivalled understanding of how to bring a global dance brand to the marketing industry audience.

Lohan Presencer, Chief Executive of Ministry of Sound, commented: “Alexis’ and Matthew’s experience is the ideal combination of commercial and marketing savvy the Ministry brand needs at this turning point in our long and successful history. They will be critical in helping us achieve our ambitious plans to tell the Ministry story while positioning it as a premium music brand partner.”
