Publicis Dublin and Motherland use the speed dating concept to get listeners hooked to Today FM

Today FM is Ireland’s biggest national, commercial radio station and have launched their new AV campaign to highlight some of the most talented broadcasters in the country that they have on their roster

Today FM is a truly interactive station – there is no such thing as passive listening when it comes to their shows. The listener is in the middle of the craic with the presenters.

Created by Publicis Dublin produced with Motherland, the new campaign aims to get listeners to choose Today FM as their number one station. The station where they can dance, laugh and chat back to our presenters and listen to some really great tunes while they are at it.

In order to achieve these objectives, Publicis Dublin knew that it was crucial to utilise the station’s best assets - the presenters. There is always more craic to be had on Today FM and Publicis wanted this to shine through from the get-go.

Publicis' concept cleverly uses a speed dating format where every presenter has just a few minutes to get the listener hooked. Shot in The Workmans in Dublin, we watch as the protagonist (the listener) tries their hand at a round of speed dating with Today FM presenters: Ian Dempsey, Mairead Ronan, Fergal Darcy, Pamela Joyce, Matt Cooper, Dermot & Dave and Paula McSweeney.

Each presenter has just a few seconds to woo the listener and get them hooked.

But it’s not just the presenters that feature in the commercial – another crucial feature of the station really shines through here and that is the music with Niall Horan’s earworm, Nice To Meet Ya, giving the presenters and the listener something that they can’t help but bop along to.

Ger Roe, board creative director from Publicis Dublin says: “Radio in Ireland plays such a huge role in people’s lives and TODAY FM is really the brand that stands out from the crowd. We really wanted to play with that truth about the unique relationship we all have with our favourite radio station and the love we have for our favourite presenters. So having access to such a brilliant cast of super entertaining and famous presenters makes it all the easier. The Marketing team of Roisin Reilly and Ziz O’Beirne really got behind our speed dating idea from the start and Rory Hanahan our director and the team at Motherland took care of the superb production during tricky covid times”

Roisin Reilly, head of marketing - Music & Entertainment at Bauer Media comments: “Delighted to launch our new ATL brand campaign for Today FM - showcasing our much loved personalities, great music and that unique audience connection that’s become even more apparent over the past 15 months. It All Happens Here at Today FM

Filmed in Dublin’s Workman’s Club, the campaign is live on TV from today!

Brilliantly conceived by Publicis Dublin, directed by Rory Hanrahan and produced by Motherland, media by Mindshare, music by Niall Horan Universal Music Group, Presenters: models own!”
