Camino Media's Michael Moffett teams up with RCR Films to launch PS-SP

Barcelona stands out as the European city of choice for commercial shoots. Consistent growth to an average of almost 3 TVC shoots underway any given day of the year is nearly triple the same figure in London according to annual figures released by the Barcelona Film Commission.

Following more than a decade of servicing shoots across Spain and its islands from centrally-located Madrid, the Production Service Network (PSN) partner in Spain, Camino Media, decided there’s no better time or place to set up a fully-staffed seaside shop for its international clients.

“Barcelona is a film-friendly city in terms of permits and locally available equipment, says Michael Moffett, International Executive Producer. “And it is a gem of a location on the Mediterranean with an eclectic mix of modern and classic urban locations. Compact logistics also enable us to shoot snowy peaks and sandy beaches all in one day.”

Moffett orchestrated a joint venture with award-winning Spanish production house, RCR Films, to provide this boost to his boutique service company, Camino Media. The resulting Production Services – Spain (PS-SP) has launched onto the scene to offer more than 40 years combined experience at shooting film, photo and video productions across Spain, the Balearic and Canary Islands.

“Our local knowledge is unparalleled and our total production volume provides for leverage that makes PS-SP very competitive at delivering differences our clients can see in frame and at the bottom line,” says Ferran Forcada, RCR Films CEO.

The strategic move also positions PS-SP to build upon Camino Media’s success at servicing entertainment programming ranging from primetime US network series and prestigious documentaries to Bollywood movies.

Barcelona took to the international stage during the 1992 Olympic games and hasn’t looked back during years of tremendous growth in key sectors like tourism. The decision to put film tourism at the top of next year’s AFCI Cineposium agenda – drawing to Barcelona more than 150 film commission representatives from around the world – is recognition that Barcelona is likely to remain a top choice for international shoots that depend on local production services.
