Brain Food: 8 Creative Ideas to Round Off a Week of Big Ones

With Apple CEO Tim Cook announcing the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Watch and Apple Pay, it could be easy to bypass other excellent bits of creativity to come to light this week. But LBB’s Addison Capper has hunted some goodies down. EA embraces a really rather large but teeny tiny glitch, a Tinder-like app plays client-agency matchmaker, footballing feet power up pitch flood lights, branded weed and more.

1. The Story of Madden Tiny Titan Christian Kirksey

When unexpected glitches arose with EA’s latest instalment of the Madden series, the games developer didn’t try to hide behind their mistakes. Nope, they embraced it. Cleveland Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey appeared as the most adorably tiny defender, scooting around the pitch much like a puppy chihuahua. So EA released ‘The Story of Madden Tiny Titan Christian Kirksey’. Kirksey actually appears in the tiny tale and explains that, despite his slight build, he plays with ferocity and strength. 

2. Marketed Marijuana 

To support the launch of director and podcaster Kevin Smith’s latest film ‘Tusk’, distributor A24 has struck a deal with LA weed dispensary Buds & Roses (great name, eh?). The partnership involved two strains of branded marijuana - entitled Mr. Tusk and White Walrus - made available as a tie-in for the film, honing in on the youthful stoners that Smith appeals to. 3. Player-powered Pitch

The first ever player-powered football pitch has opened in Brazil. The pitch in a Rio de Janeiro favela uses technology from British start-up Pavegen that captures the energy from players’ moving feet to power the flood lights - technology that Brazilian football legend Pele thinks will spark “local kids’ interest not only in soccer but in science”. Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento (named after lightbulb inventor Thomas Edison), was moved to tears at the venue’s inaugural game on Wednesday night. 

4. Pitcher

Is your relationship with your ad agency not quite as rosy as it once was? This Tinder-like app claims to help clients seek new a new agency in Amsterdam. It lets you send out pitch invitation - complete with brand category, fee, campaign type, etc. - and then swipe left or right on different agencies depending on if they take your fancy or not. 5. Play Games with Will Ferrell

Will Ferrell is teaming up with Twitch - the video game streaming service that Amazon just paid $970 million for - to launch a crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo. Gamers are being tempted into donating into the $375,000 target for Cancer for College and DonateGames.org by having the opportunity of gaming down with self-proclaimed video games whiz Ferrell. Donate $10 and you’ll be entered to win a chance to play video games with the Anchorman star for two hours on October 26 in San Francisco - and it’ll all be broadcast live on Twitch. Donate here. 

6. 100 Most Iconic Shots
