Over 2.5 billion people use Facebook’s family of apps every single day, finding each other, giving each other advice and support, finding friends and mentors—in sports and beyond. The brand’s Olympic campaign, “We Change The Game When We Find Each Other,” celebrated these daily positive outcomes through the lens of an exciting sport: Skateboarding.

It’s a prime example of all that we can achieve when we come together: evolving a niche subculture into a global phenomenon. Recently, Facebook and its platforms and their technologies have become an integral part of how skateboarders connect, share their tricks, and get noticed - making it easier than ever to push things, to change things, to build upon what came before and to do what has never been done. Or, a nutshell: To change the game.

Our campaign celebrated skateboarding’s rise to the Olympic stage with four incredible stories captured by an equally incredible roster of directors, shot over 17 days across four continents. Each of them telling a true story, and each of them showing inspiring ways skateboarding has changed for the better through Facebook apps and technologies.

“Skate Nation Ghana” for Facebook Company is helmed by a collective of four directors from Daniel Wolfe’s new production company Love Song: Bafic, Elliott Powers, Justyna Obasi and Daniel himself. “No Comply” for Instagram is directed by the features and series director Yann Demange (Reset Content). “Once Upon a Time Everywhere” for Oculus is directed by MJZ’s Juan Cabral. And, last but not least, “Longboard Family” for Facebook Blue App is helmed by FKA twigs (Object & Animal), with choreography by Mike Tyus and Joy Brown.
