Joyrider was founded in November 2004 by Exec Producer Spencer Friend, who has been producing and representing directors for over 15 years in all areas of live action, animation and VFX. Previously a live action specialist producer as well as a senior animation producer, Spencer has also worked as a VFX Producer/Supervisor in features and drama. The Joyrider roster is comprised of directors Reuben Sutherland, Andras Ketzer, AixSponza, Adam Bizanski, David Tomaszewski, Wade Shotter, and Mike Mort. The company recently produced commercials and music video projects for Orange, The Observer, BMW, PS3, Huggies, Eurostar, Zero 7, Flora, Wolf Parade, The Doves, and Phoenix Foundation, with honours from D&AD, Lions, One and Clios. “We’re committed to cultivating an unusual, funky and an influential concoction of work that crosses technique and style spectrums of live action, animation and VFX combinations,” says Friend, whose company does most of its animation in house. “The work stands out as innovative and highly creative. In addition to creating beautiful commercials, branded content, and music videos, we are harnessing new platforms and helping to grow new seeds of emerging talent and approaches to projects.
