Florence Welcomes Director Matteo Mosterts

Filmmaker Matteo Mosterts boards Florence’s roster of incredible talent. Hailing from Verona, Italy, Matteo’s love for film craft and his European upbringing come together in his work to shape his distinctive sensibility as a director. 

At the intersection of playfulness and artisan craftsmanship, Matteo’s sophisticated cinematic vocabulary delivers heart and humour with captivating imagery. Having played on the Italian National Volleyball Team, he considers directing an athletic pursuit fusing teamwork, focus, and excellence under pressure. Matteo pivoted into filmmaking immediately following his career in professional sports and sought to become a director after first making commercials as an agency producer. 

Matteo directed heartfelt and funny ads for Pampers, Cisco, Amazon, several popular spots for Blink, and most recently, a promotional spot for the Seattle Film Festival’s 50th anniversary. An alumnus of SHOOT New Director Showcase, he’s directed an array of standout short films, including 'Afternoon Delight,' which was featured as Vimeo’s Short of The Week and garnered over four million views on YouTube. His other acclaimed shorts include his debut, 'Wally’s Will,' and 'Faith,' starring renowned character actor Beth Grant.
